Socrates x III

With so many wonderful activity themes to try, I’m generating requisite sign-up commitments in fewer posts.  That’s a trend I’d like hosts to do different, as well as diversifying a January start.  I have time for one blog and it isn’t solely for books.  This blog is where I share many passions, so the sooner we get the presently dominating theme settled;  the sooner I can share other topics with my subscribers.   Fortunately there are multiple groups by the same hostesses.  Here are three by our New Yorker, Yvonne ‘Socrates’.

What An Animal 2013

There is an animal in the title.
There is an animal on the cover.
An animal plays a major role.
A main character is an animal.

I’ll blow this out of the water because a great deal of my literature involves cats and I love all walks and flights of life!

The Foundling Fox”  Irina Korschunow  1982
The Case Of The Cat’s Meow”  Crosby Newell Bonsall  1965
Ghost Town Treasure”  Clyde Robert Bulla  1957
Forward, Shakespeare!”  Jean Little  2005
Red Fox And His Canoe”  Nathaniel Benchley  1964
Time For The White Egret”  Natalie Savage Carlson  1978

Jacob Two-2 Meets The Hooded Fang”  Mordecai Richler  1975
Jacob Two-Two & The Dinosaur” Mordecei Richler  1987
The Secret Of Shadow Ranch”  Mildred A. Wirt  1931
Stuart Little”   E.B. White  1945
In A Witch’s Wardrobe”  Juliet Blackwell  2012
Defending Angels”   Mary Stanton  2008

Mew Is For Murder”    Clea Simon  2005
Pretty Poison”  Joyce, Jim Lavene  2005
Fer-De-Lance”  Rex Stout  1934
“Angel’s Advocate”  Mary Stanton  2009

LEVEL 1          Snoop           06
LEVEL 2  Investigator    7 – 12
LEVEL 3     Super Sleuth   13 +

I detest calling a genre ‘cozy’ but the poorly-named heading applies to countless series I enjoy.  Pencil me in for level ‘Sleuth‘ again and watch for my selections.  :)

Rest You Merry”  Charlotte MacLeod  1978
The Luck Runs Out”  Charlotte MacLeod  1979
Wrack And Ruin”  Charlotte MacLeod  1982
In A Witch’s Wardrobe”  Juliet Blackwell  2012
Homicide In Hardcover”  Kate Carlisle  2009
If Books Could Kill”  Kate Carlisle  2010
Night Of The Living Deed”  E.J. Copperman  2010
Defending Angels”  Mary Stanton  2008
Demons Are A Ghoul’s Best Friend”  Victoria Laurie  2008
Who Do Voodoo”  Rochelle Staab  2010
A Killer Read”  Erika Chase  2012
Death Dines Out”  Claudia Bishop  1997
Pretty Poison”  Joyce, Jim Lavene  2005
Aunt Dimity’s Good Deed”  Nancy Atherton  1994
The Ghost & Mrs. McClure”  Alice Kimberly  2004
Room With A Clue”  Kate Kingsbury  1993

The following don’t fit categorization as ‘cozy mysteries’.  The cute title “Mew Is For Murder” is about blunter reality in dark tones.  Especially, heavy plotters Agatha and Rex created real, classic mysteries that shouldn’t be called light material.  However since the other peers in this group are generalizing all of these mysteries, it wouldn’t do for me to subtract the points.

Mew Is For Murder”  Clea Simon  2005
The Secret Adversary”  Agatha Christie  1922
Murder On The Links”  Agatha Christie  1923
Fer-De-Lance”  Rex Stout  1934
“Angel’s Advocate”  Mary Stanton  2009

Finishing The Series 2013

Level 1    Complete 1 series.
Level 2    Complete 2 series.
Level 3    Complete 3+ series

This is the first time I’m doing this one but I’ve blogged about how there are more series than standalone works nowadays.  I’m enchanted with enough of them to topple this challenge tenfold.  I’ll take level 3.

Dancing Feathers”  Christel Kleitsch  1985
A Time To Be Brave”  Christel Kleitsch  1985
Mystery At Black Rock Island”  Robert Sutherland  1983
The Ghost Of Ramshaw Castle”  Robert Sutherland  1989
The Loon Lake Murders”  Robert Sutherland  1987
“Death Island”  Robert Sutherland  1994
“If Two Are Dead”  Robert Sutherland  1997

Mew Is For Murder”  Clea Simon  2005
“Angel’s Advocate”  Mary Stanton  2009
