Welcome to year three of “MY KIND OF MYSTERY”! I am Carolyn in central Canada. There are groups specializing in sub-genres. Mine was born because I was inspired to step alongside those ladies and furnish a place for all mystery content. Folks rejoining me: your continued presence makes me smile. I hope you enjoy our subtle changes. Newcomers: please think of yourselves as my guests in a friendly mystery lounge! As low-key or active as you might be: you make up our party!
Include anything you consider a fit: fiction, children’s literature, and non-fiction too. Writing tutorials, autobiographies, conspiracy theories; all the way through to mystical mysteries of the world. “Crime” is one kind of mystery, not a synonym for this genre. There are many other styles and these creative, rare types are my favourites.
~ THIS IS ALL THERE IS TO IT! ~
(1) Join by making a post to promote this group. Send that link via e-mail!
February 1, 2016 to January 31, 2017 is our year.
(2) If you review, use our alphabetized page all year.
If you don’t, finish a few titles and drop off these lists in any mystery comment box.
(3) Attend any conversation and activity you like. There is a mid-year prize draw.
For the finale: an extra entry goes to everyone who identifies our mystery logo!
(4) Add your name to the wrap-up button, to confirm interest in the year-end draw.
~ PRIZES! ~
I will hold one event that yields a prize, in addition to our year-end draw. Other activities will be for fun. Winners are e-mailed a list of second-hand books -PLUS- a list of eclectic, alternate choices. My assortment ranges from postcards, my animal and nature cards, plant seeds… You are eligible for every activity the minute you join: EVERYBODY, internationally! I merely have a wrap-up button to reaffirm interest in the January 31 draw. We’ll award someone who hasn’t disappeared. For an extra entry, you have all year to identify this year’s book cover mystery logo. E-mail me anytime you figure out name, author, and year.
We want challenges that are easy but not for lack of a mission, that renders them pointless. We’ve seen them: no review page, no contact with the host. Something should keep us connected but commitment levels are unnecessary. We’ll use these levels as creative signposts for measuring our progress. Instead of answering a minimum requirement, YOU tell me how many you finish! If you write summaries, show us those posts. This is our homebase for logging progress at our pace. Non-reviewers, I suggest dropping off your list of titles at each of these markers. Say: I have reached “Gothic Mansion”. If you like chatting more often, all the better.
~ E-MAIL REPLACES A BUTTON ~
My e-mail address for signing-up is AlyshaeB[at]hotmail[dot]com. Send your blog post, name you will use, and country. If you don’t blog, give your Goodreads profile URL. If you aren’t at that site either, name and origin are fine. We are going to be presented by country on a Participant Page.
I dismissed sign-up buttons because it was pointless to create discussions, festivities, and even information that intended recipients did not see. All input is voluntary but we will ensure nothing is missed. I will send a note when there is a group-related post for you to see. :)
Are you a mystery, gothic, or suspense author? I would love to interview you about your work. Everyone joining me, thank you! Acquainting you will be a pleasure. I’m not into Twitter/ Pinterest / Instagram / Facebook but if you are, word of mouth is appreciated. See you in the mystery lounge!
* A Goodreads group for my whole quartet is here.
‘Disqus’ and ‘Blogspot’ comment forms are problematic. I will visit your posts, wishing I could thank you via comments. Hosts should extend that courtesy. To circumvent a hassle, please watch for replies from me at our Participant Page.
