RIEDEL READING CIRCLES 2013.

Hello from central Canada!  I have loved novels since I was a child, occasionally including non-fiction subjects.  Three years ago I discovered this blog website.  Late last July, I discovered ‘reading challenges’.  These are competitions you fulfill by reading a given number of books fitting the theme.  Although I counted what I had read so far without knowing of any such contests, it was at this time last year that I started most of them.  I finished all 18 by new year’s eve, the ending date for most (unfortunately, they don’t vary and stagger out enough)!

I also discovered Goodreads and with my self-challenge there, I pledged to 62 titles and just squeaked them in on time.  I don’t want a rush through another Christmas!  But I’m pleased with the journey and wondered how I’d do, starting from the beginning in a fresh year.  I revisited the same themes that were available, raised my anti in all of them, and found a heck of a lot more….  forty-two!  At Goodreads this year, I vouched for 72 books and have almost attained that already.

Below, you’ll find two groups:  the reading circles I have conquered, followed by those I’m working on.  Have a look and see how many of them your material fits into.  You can count everything you’ve read in 2013 no matter when you sign-up.  Since our Canadian one runs Canada Day to Canada Day (which is July 1st), it just started.  When I mark an event “conquered”:  I’ve hit the level I promised, or I’ve finished the whole shebang.  If there is room to reach above, I’ll keep on going.

For groups that don’t go any higher, for which there is no prize / reason to keep adding review website links;  I’ll close them.  This will free me to assess my more intricate competitions.  There are several I haven’t looked at yet (countries, global) and I may be quite close to completion.  Please re-visit this page, where the on-going column will feed into the finished one!  The quotas I cite are usually the highest ranks the hostesses have set.  You certainly have other choices.
Yours sincerely, Carolyn.
{P.S:  Happy third birthday to my four kittens today!  I love you Tinkies!}
