I will strive for “Cautious“:  12 genres ~ 12 books!

Dark They Were & Golden-Eyed”   Ray Bradbury, 1949  (Science Fiction)
Hercules & Other Tales From Greek Myths”   Olivia Coolidge, 1949  (Mythology)
Uncertain Voyage”   Dorothy Gilman, 1967  (Women’s Fiction)
Black Amber”   Phyllis A. Whitney, 1964  (International Intrigue)
Thunder On The Right”  Mary Stewart, 1957  (Romantic Suspense)
The Salzburg Connection”  Helen MacInnes, 1968  (Spy Novel)
The Foundling Fox”  Irina Korschunow, 1982  (German Translation)
The Ghost Of Windy Hill”  Clyde Robert Bulla, 1968  (Children’s Mystery)
The Dragon Children”  Bryan Buchan, 1975  (Teen Mystery)
The Case Of The Cat’s Meow”   Crosby Newell Bonsall, 1965  (Toddler Story)
Night Of The Living Deed”  E.J. Copperman, 2010  (Paranormal Mystery)

Heavenly 2013

Angel   05     angelic themes or charaters.
Archangel 10  angelic themes or characters.
Ophanim 15  angelic themes or characters.
Cherubim 20  angelic themes or characters.
Seraphim 25  angelic themes or characters.

Most of the paranormal I enjoy relates to the afterlife.  And a normal vintage mystery I’ve finished was set in a convent.  I think I’m good for ‘Ophanim‘ level:  15 books, fictious or approaching the real spiritual realm!  I additionally look forward to knowing what an ‘ophanim’ is.

Hercules & Other Tales From Greek Myths”  Olivia E. Coolidge  1949
The Dragon Children”  Bryan Buchan    1975
Night Of The Living Deed”  E.J. Copperman  2010
Thunder On The Right”  Mary Stewart  1957

If Walls Could Talk”  Juliet Blackwell  2010
In A Witch’s Wardrobe”  Juliet Blackwell  2012
Defending Angels”  Mary Stanton  2008
Demons Are A Ghoul’s Best Friend”  Victoria Laurie  2008

Romantic Suspense 2013

The goal is to read 13 romantic suspense novels in 2013.
Novellas that are at least 100 pages in length, as well as full-length novels.

Uncertain Voyage”  Dorothy Gilman 1967
Black Amber”  Phyllis A. Whitney 1964
Thunder On The Right”  Mary Stewart  1957

To answer your question about the Colorful Reading Challenge, they can definitely be variations on colors. The only thing is I ask to use only each color or color variation once (for example you can’t use two books with brown in the title, but you can use brown and cinnamon.)

  2. Regarding my Translation Challenge (you didn’t leave an email to contact you by): You are welcome to set your own personal goals but giveaways will favour those actively participating. My giveaways will be open to anyone, not just challengees but extra entries will be awarded for linking reviews and commenting on other blogs. The current sign-up giveaway does state you can choose less than 12 and doesn’t require a review. However that ends tonight.

  3. It’s part of the Classic Double Challenge to encourage you to read the original inspiration of a retelling, but I’m not going to chase you down and force you to do it – it’s up to you. :) A lot of the classic stories are available at your library and also are in the open domain arena and are available for free to read online or download onto your ereader for free. It’s worth checking out!

    • Ooo, that’s right, you don’t know me. ;) I’m very pro book & anti e-reader; this gal ain’t letting paper go away, LOL! Thanks for explaining your vision is with original tales. My rule is to hit challenges, shopping from the huge book collection I already have. Good luck on your very creative vision, very worthwhile and hostessing must be a lot of work. :)
